I received a request to do a baby set in "Irish colours" way back in December. I thought I'd be done a lot sooner, but I had a couple of projects I was doing, and then I had two false starts on a blanket for this plan, and scrapped a month's worth of work, before finally - FINALLY- settled on a Corner-to-Corner blanket, and, yes, FNALLY - went out and bought yarn in a colour that I was truly happy with.
The yarn is one big ball (454g/ 16oz) of Red Heart Comfort in Emerald Green, and one big ball (454g/ 16oz) of Red Comfort in White.
Hook: Size H, 5.00 mm, for everything except the shamrock (for which I used a F, 4.25 mm).
The patterns were all free patterns that I followed, and I thank everyone in the crochet community for your generosity in helping learners like me!
The Leprechaun Doll:
This is the Lucky Leprechaun, a free pattern from Yarnspirations / Lily Sugar and Cream. I think the pattern calls for cotton, but I used regular old worsted weight yarn (Red Heart Super Saver) scraps that I had in my stash. I think it worked out great.
Here's the pattern: http://www.yarnspirations.com/patterns/lucky-leprechaun.html
Blanket:
For the blanket, I mostly followed this pattern found over at Red Heart: Crochet Corner to Corner Throw http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/crochet-corner-corner-throw
I followed that pattern mainly for the edging, as I made the blanket as big as I wanted, and only alternated between green and white (6 rows green 6 rows white, 3 rows green, 6 rows white, 6 rows green, 3 rows white, etc).
Sweater:
For the sweater, I used this great, free pattern "Two Tone Baby Sweater" from Brittany Off The Hook, here: http://www.brittenyoffthehook.com/2014/04/free-pattern.html . Thank yo SO much, Brittany, for providing this awesome, cute, and easy pattern for free! It works up in one piece, not sewing stuff together.
Hat:
And, for the beanie, I simple followed an easy pattern for easy baby beanie, from Repeat Crafter Me. I followed the basics for the bunny hat (http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2013/01/crochet-bunny-hat-pattern.html) but, obviously, did not add the ears and all that. I just used it for the newborn size stitch count. And I changed to white for the last four rounds.
Shamrock Applique:
Hook size = 4.25mm.
And, finally, I made the shamrock applique following this Youtube Video Tutorial from The Crochet Geek for Crohet Shamrock C - Clover! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfKhg-aH0z8&feature=share
