My 45th

Sunday past - January 22nd, 2017 - was my 45th birthday.

Holy crow. I do NOT feel 45 years old. I barely feel 35. Ridiculous, how time slips through our fingers, like sands through the hour glass....

I had a maudlin evening on the Saturday before my birthday, reflecting on how so many early deaths I've known, many of which in my own family. And the ones who don't die young go senile...

But, I am a new generation, and, until the past few years, I was very healthy. I am still healthy, just a little over-weighty, lol. I clocked in at 150 lbs on January 19. On January 21st, I joined Weight Watchers online. So far I am very happy with the program, though I've only lost 2.4 pounds or so. It has also been less than two weeks, and I have been eating more than my point allowance pretty regularly. So, what can you expect, right?

Yep, I'm plump. I will try to take a 'Before' photo tonight - I want it to compare with when I do lose a few pounds in the future. But at least the selfie above left shows a bit of how chubby I am. I want to do a full-body shot, though.

Anyway, more than the weight - I want to feel good again, and this past week and a half, I've cut drinking wine a lot, and totally eliminated potato chips and most other crappy food. I think I am starting to feel better. I feel little flashes of enthusiasm, and occasionally, sometimes downright am enthusiastic!

Oh, anyway, this is supposed to be about my 45th birthday. Well, I had a great weekend, and a great birthday day (Sunday).

On Friday, I invited Chantel and her husband over, as well as Jivka. I made a nice slow-cooker chili, and served fresh baguette, taco chips, guacamole and salsa, as well as fruit and drinks. We chatted for a while around the kitchen table. Jivka left around 9 pm, then we three soaked in the hot tub for an hour, then they also left. It was really nice, and not at all connected to my birthday, but sort of felt like it was.

Saturday was a fun day of shopping at Michael's with the gift card Sean gave me for Christmas - I decided to make a cape.

Sunday was a little more shopping, and cooking and relaxing before getting ready for the work week ahead again.

On Sunday, Chantel surprised me by bringing me a piece of cake with three candles - one for past, one for present, one for future. It was very thoughtful. She also gave me a nice turtle necklace.

I'm not big into gifts, but it was definitely nice.

And so, here I am four days into my forty-sixth year. And I am starting to feel better than I felt last year, and I definitely don't feel forty-five.

I am an Ageless Goddess!

In the Woods with Lola!

And my Sunday morning yesterday was pretty great, too. I took Lola to the dog park - we really don't go often enough anymore - and she...
