My poor brother has been moving for over a month. First, he helped move his girlfriend's daughter, then his girlfriend, then his son, then himself and finally his daughter. He's exhausted, physically and mentally.
So, when he asked for a favour, how could I say no? The favour, you ask? To babysit my great-nephew (my brother's grandson) for a night so the mom (my niece) and my bro could more easily move all the stuff, and finally get her apartment set up.
He was reluctant to ask; he didn't want to impose, especially as I am not renowned for being a 'kid person' as he put it! But I happy agreed to take the baby, how could I not? In fact, I kept him for two nights, much to my sibling's surprise! And we had a lovely, if busy, weekend.
First, the baby LOVES the back yard, and Lola loves the baby. I am so, so, so impressed with how good a dog
Lola is.
Friday night went pretty smoothly overall. After playing in the yard, I barbecued up some hot dogs for him and my mom, and burgers for Sarah and I. Oh, yep, did I mention that it was a busy weekend? My friend, Sarah, was actually staying over Friday night since she came to town to pick up Fletcher, her cat whom I'd been babysitting for the past five weeks.
So, Sarah was here, and after dinner, I gave Wyatt a bath, and got him settled in with cartoons. He was restless, and I finally took him to bed with me at 8:20 pm, and I fell asleep with him for two hours.
Saturday morning was tons of fun, as we headed out to our ritual garage sales in a convoy with my aunt and some friends. Sarah really seemed to enjoy the morning, and, as Wyatt can attest, garage saling is a tiring business!
Sarah then went to Poutine Fest in Ottawa, while Wyatt and I chilled at home, and then Lola, Wyatt and I took a nice, long walk around the neighborhood.
Sarah stayed overnight again on Saturday, but was exhausted, so went for a 'nap', and didn't wake up til morning. :). Wyatt, on the other hand, did not want to sleep! He was awake til after nine, and then finally crashed out in his play pen.
Sarah and Fletcher (the cat) left this morning around 8;00. And I dropped Wyatt off at home around 1:00 p.m.
And I have to admit - there is nothing so wonderful and a quiet home back to ourselves! Even Lola seems happy to have the excitement done and over.
