I'm writing this post in case I forget how I got my exercise this winter. And, in fact, in case I forget that I am enjoying this winter!
Admittedly, it hasn't been very cold - very few days below minus 20, and most have been above minus 15.
There's been a lot of snow this year, but with my handy snowblower that my brother gave me, I'm not finding the shovelling as much of a chore.
And, although I still never bought snow shoes or cross-country skis, I have been pretty busy and active outdoors with Lola. Every Saturday and Sunday morning we go to the off-leash dog park, and then just go straight into the woods for an hour or more. It's peaceful, and beautiful, and those long trails are only accessible in winter because they turn into swamp-land in summer.
The dog park is also a great opportunity for me to meet and talk to other dog owners, like minded morning walkers. In fact, I've actually been quiet sociable overall, outside of the park with other friends, like Jivka from hiking, Carrie from my supply work, and other new friends at the office.
I have to say that this is the best Canadian winter I've enjoyed, and I believe it is because I have been active physically and also socially.
