Hike P7 to Keogan Shelter in Gatineau Park

I do love the longer daylight hours of spring and summer. Not only do I feel like I'm cutting back on electricity, but I feel like I'm getting out more and doing more and simply being more.

Yesterday, after work, I met my hiking mate, Jivka, at P7 in Gatineau Park to do a nice late afternoon hike. The goals were several: to check out the trail conditions for future larger group hikes; to get out for exercise ourselves; to unwind and truly relax after four days of work

From P7, we took trail #30 for about 500 metres or so, where we arrived at Wattsford's Lookout (a small, not all that awesome lookout), then turned left on trail #1, and walked about 3.5 more kilometres until we reached Keogan Shelter / cabin.

This trail is very well marked and quite wide the whole way, so it's not very technical. However, it IS very steep in parts, especially the first 1.5 km, so you get a good butt workout for sure.

Yesterday, on April 23rd, the trail was quite dry despite a week of rain, and easy enough to walk. Also, this usually popular trail was deserted so Jivka and I got to enjoy it totally on our own.
