I took up crochet a five or six months ago, in September, starting from scratch, learning everything from the ground up through YouTube.com. And boy, am I glad that I did. I've really gotten into crochet, passing hours and hours relaxing with Netflix and crocheting the night away.
I know that sounds old-ladyish and boring, but it is not at all. And, actually, this winter has been extremely cold, and since I still haven't gotten into winter sports, crochet has been a savior for me.
Here are some of my items:
My first project - a dishcloth! |
My second project ever - a hat and scarf set. |
Getting more skilled, I created this throw and cushion following a Bernat pattern. |
And this shawl was made just by following a granny triangle pattern. |
I've made a lot of other things since these items, like shawls and infinity scarves and throws. I've helped my mother make a tea pot cozy, so she is getting back into crochet, too!
Crochet really is a therapeutic creative pastime - I feel myself relax as I work, and I feel like there can be no anger or hatred or rage when we crochet. I think I will try to start making meditation shawls!
