New Year 2016

As I sit here on my sofa, in my cozy house in the the snow-covered suburb of Aylmer, I refect on how much things can and do change in a relatively short period of time. Six years ago, I was riding a motorbike through the jungles of Cambodia before heading back to my home in Japan.

Five years ago, I was living in Montreal and finding my feet again in Canada.

And now, I'm feeling settled in my suburban home, and for the first time in a long time, I don't feel like moving again. I find myself wanting to stay here, live here and thrive here, not wanting to put on my travelling shoes and hit the road again.

I have made friends, and gotten reconnected with cousins, have a new dog, and really, really like this area. I love living so near Gatineau park (where I have had at least five bear sightings!!), love running along the river, hiking in the hills and just walking through my neighborhood.

And this year's resolutions? Ah, yes:

  1. eat healthfully
  2. drink less
  3. move more
  4. do 1, 2, and 3 and lose weight
  5. get back into my hobbies of photography and scrapbooking

So, that's it. I feel good, feel confident, and free to start fresh! This morning, I've already done a 30 minute walk with Lola. Then I had an Everything Bagel from Tim Hortons.... The bagel is high calorie, but not an awful choice.

Here's to a happy, healthy and productive 2016.
