Yesterday was Halloween. Not only here in my little suburb, but everywhere in North America. Maybe even in Europe, too.
I decorated my front lawn with skeletons and skulls, pumpkins and scarecrows. I dressed up as a hippie in a cute costume I picked up at a garage sale a few weeks ago, when the weather was still warm and sales were still on. And I was ready for the Trick-or-Treaters, with the chips and chocolate I’d bought for the occasion. Except – probably because I live on a quiet crescent populated by retirees, kids really didn’t bother with my street. I had, all told. only about fifty little ghouls.
Was I disappointed? Yes, somewhat. I remember my first year in this house being a bit more lively at Halloween. Last year was quieter, but not bad. This year – only fifty kids. But at least those fifty got some treats! And, there is lots left over for me and mom to indulge our junk-food binge.

Me, a happy hippie!
