On Friday last week - May 8, 2015 - the parkways in Gatineau Park opened for the season. As I wanted to lead a morning hike on Sunday from the Champlain Lookout, Jivka and I went to try out the trail on Friday, the day that cars gained access to that trail head.
It is a very gentle hike, with no steep climbs or descents, mostly on a wide trail/ service road. At about 10 km, this is still a good workout, but just not strenuous, so it's good for beginners or getting back in shape for the season.
Here's the route below. But on Sunday, though we did the same hike, we detoured a bit to Western Cabin, then took trail #2, and #9 back to the parking area.
