I know, I know. Resolutions don't work. They are never successful. And, in fact, in many cases do harm (people fail, feel bad for failing, beat themselves up and backslide waaaay back). So, then, knowing this, why do I make Resolutions? I don't really, anymore. But I DO look at the New Year as a Clean Slate a la Plato. Starting again, fresh, free of old evils, old burdens, old wounds. Shedding all the weight of guilt, former obligations, and cleaning house (both literally and figuratively), makes way for so much positive force. And my hopes for this year are:
- I will live better
- I will eat more vegetables and fruits
- I will be physically active
- I will cultivate a daily practise
- I will love better
- I will practise loving kindness to myself and those around me
- I will practise patience
- I will practise forgiveness
- And, of course, the usuals
- I will go to the gym
- I will lose 30 pounds
- I will blog daily (haha)
- I will make photos again
- I will be more social
- I will save money
So, this, at least, is a start. This post. This thoughtfulness, this step.
Happy New Year to me.
